Chiwendu Precious; the issue of child labour

Chinwendu Precious a nine year old maid, was bathed with HOT WATER by her madam for not carrying out an instruction. It has become an acceptable norm mostly in Nigeria for a child to be a maid, to carry out chores far bigger and tedious than his/her little frame, the issue of child labour is one that has been on for a long time, treaties, agreement, laws on child's right have been made but yet what is happening is still happening if not worse. Children have become preys that are hunted every second of every day by the very ones supposed to protect them, the story of Chiwendu Precious is a little peak at the life of thousands of children everyday in Nigeria and the world over.

The statement 'our children are our tomorrow' cannot be overemphasized because they are indeed our tomorrow, a child who has been destroyed, trampled on, brutally scarred cannot become a positive tomorrow. Calling out to us all to speak out, for they cannot speak for themselves; the human rights activist, the lawyer, the judge, the police officer, social worker, the  teacher, the nurse, the doctor, the neighbour, the mail man . . . to be silent would be a SIN against the child you see everyday with that pain in his/her eyes.
